Following the success of the previous editions, the 2018 STA Annual Conference will be held on 29 November 2018.

In line with STA’s mission to lead and support activities improving the methods, technologies and standards associated to transportation infrastructures, the STA Technical Committee on Smart Safety and Security (TC2) has released the STA Road Restraint Systems Deployment Guidelines.

The frontierCities2 project has launched a ‘City Needs Mapping’ survey specifically aimed at Cities to explore the possibility of establishing fruitful links between cities and innovative start-ups deploying FIWARE– based solutions.

The STA Technical Committee on Smart Mobility, TC1, chaired by Dr Elena de la Peña, has conducted a survey between 5 and 27 April 2018 on Smart Mobility issues associated with the deployment of the Smart Infrastructures of the Future.

The market is becoming more and more affected by these arrangements: demands for sustainable and eco-friendly products are growing (ex. Green Public Procurement).

During the 2018 edition of Amsterdam Intertraffic, held on 20-23 March 2018, several STA representatives took part in several activities in collaboration with H3B Media and in the context of the frontierCities2 R&D project.

The Smart Transportation Alliance gathered 50+ experts at its annual landmark event, the 2017 STA Annual Conference & Innovation Awards, held in Brussels on 28 November 2017.

The STA Technical Committee on Smart Mobility, TC1, chaired by Dr Elena de la Peña (Asociación Española de la Carretera, AEC, Spain), has launched a survey to understand the perception of our readers on Smart Infrastructures, and on the future of Smart Cities.

The first STA General Meeting of the year was held on 27 February.

On 23 February 2018, STA’s Technical Sub-Committee on Road Restraint Systems (belonging to Technical Committee 2) reviewed the activities carried out since the last meeting held on 27 November 2017.

Following the project’s consortium meeting held on 23 January 2018 and the subsequent two-day bootcamp hosted by STA at the B19 Country Club in Brussels, the Market Acceleration Grant (MAG)2 call closed on 31 January 2018.

The network-wide-training programme of SMARTI ETN was launched in 2017 under the Marie Skłodowska Curie Research Fellowship programme (MSCA). After a number of preparatory months, all 15 researchers selected have started their PhDs across European universities.

On 18 December 2017, a signing act formalised the decision adopted during the last STA General Meeting to transfer the association’s headquarters to Brussels, Belgium.
