SMARTI ETN: TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR 15 RESEARCHERS STARTS

The network-wide-training programme of SMARTI ETN was launched in 2017 under the Marie Skłodowska Curie Research Fellowship programme (MSCA). After a number of preparatory months, all 15 researchers selected have started their PhDs across European universities. Fellows will spend the next 3 years working alongside roads and railways experts on the development and improvement of their research projects, embracing the vision of Sustainable Multi-Functional Automated Resilient Transport Infrastructures which ultimately will make people’s everyday lives easier.

During the week starting 12 February 2018, the University of Nottingham (Nottingham Transportation Engineering Centre) will welcome 30+ transport professionals for the first training event. This “Introductory week on Transport Infrastructures” will provide the 15 fellows with knowledge on railways and pavement design, construction, maintenance and operation, materials, risk and reliability and sustainability and climate change.

The event will also provide training on other fundamental aspects such as presentation skills and research management, writing and publishing scientific papers, and outreach activities.
