2024 STA ANNUAL AWARDS: RECOGNISING MS EMANUELA STOCCHI (AISCAT) AND THE “SPECIAL CIVIL PROTECTION PLAN AGAINST FLOODS” OF THE MADRID REGIONAL GOVERNMENT (SPAIN)

As part of its tradition, the STA honours outstanding innovations and commitments to transport infrastructures for the future through the STA Innovation Awards, during the 9th edition of the STA Annual Conference, taking place in Madrid, Spain on 7 November 2024.

This year, two remarkable Awardees have been selected as recipients of the 2024 STA Innovation Awards and will join us at the STA Innovation Awards Ceremony on 7 November 2024.

The Person of the Year is Ms Emanuela Stocchi, Director of International Affairs at the Italian Association of Motorway and Tunnel Concessionaires (AISCAT),Vice-Chair of the European Association of Operators of Toll Road Infrastructures (ASECAP). Ms Stocchi is a recognised expert in EU legislation and policies with a remarkable international background and extensive experience in transportation. STA recognises her instrumental contributions to advance sustainable and efficient transportation solutions in Europe and beyond, with a specific focus on the EU taxonomy.

The award for the Best Innovation Solution goes to the Madrid Regional Government for the development of the Special Civil Protection Plan against Floods (in Spanish). The plan was approved at the end of 2020, providing a strategic framework for managing and responding to flood emergencies and is based on a thorough study of regional hydrology and population vulnerability in order to establish coordinated response strategies to ensure efficient and effective action, protecting citizens and infrastructure.

Both Awardees will have the opportunity to share insights into their successes and innovative approaches during the Award Ceremony.
