Introducing STA Smart Talks; a Brand-new Podcast Video Series

The first two episodes of the STA Smart Talks are now available.

The ultimate goal of the STA Smart Talks is to connect & engage the conversations, experiences, and considerations of the highly reputed STA Members aiming at fostering a better, safer, and sustainable future for transportation infrastructures and involving all STA Technical Committees (covering topics such as mobility, safety & security, sustainability and financing).

In our first episode, under the title “A Path Towards Circular & Low Carbon Safety Barriers Dr José F. Papí, STA President invites Mr Antonio Amengual, Director of Road Steel by Gonvarri, to discuss whether Circular & Low Carbon Safety Barriers are feasible, following the transition towards environmentally friendly and climate-neutral road transport equipment.

In episode two, “Applying Taxonomy to the Cement Industry” Mr César Bartolomé, Director for Innovation at the Spanish Institute of Cement and its Applications (IECA) delves into the application of the new EU classification to the cement industry and explains whether cement, one of the most important components of transportation infrastructures, can be eligible under the new taxonomy criteria.

2023 STA Annual Conference & Innovation Awards

The proceedings of the conference are now available!

On 26 October 2023, the 8th edition of the conference, entitled “Introducing Taxonomy in Transportation Infrastructures” took place in Milan, Italy. Test house and certification body CSI S.p.A. and the road safety division of Gonvarri Industries, Road Steel Engineering presented a crash test of a reduced carbon footprint road restraint system (RRS) of recycled materials at the CSI S.p.A. Headquarters. All participants visited the cutting-edge road section with an integrated inductive vehicle charging at the A35 Arena del Futuro circuit by Aleatica.

 

Former EIB Director Dr Mario Aymerich Shares Insights with STA members

An exclusive presentation for the STA Members on EIB-funded opportunities for transportation infrastructure.

On Wednesday 13 December 2023, Dr Mario Aymerich, former Director for Environmental & Regional Projects at the European Investment Bank (EIB) delivered a dedicated presentation to the STA Members on EIB-funded opportunities for transportation infrastructure. His presentation enlightened the STA Members on the various ways infrastructure projects both in the EU & and worldwide can receive funding.
