2021 STA Annual Conference to address realistic decarbonisation strategies for transport infrastructures

The free conference hosts several online panels on 25 November, including 10 high-level experts from industry, academia and the EC.

The STA Annual Conference will bring together once again key opinion leaders and business professionals to explore the current state of art of Smart Transportation Infrastructure Decarbonisation across modes and the Smart City in a unique and dynamic atmosphere.

This sixth edition will take place on Thursday, 25 November 2021, 11:00-13:00 CET and will provide a unique opportunity to follow decision-makers and practitioners free-of-charge. Industry leaders leading associations and organisations will tackle the issue of decarbonisation from two different angles: through technical solutions and through funding mechanisms. Furthermore, the STA Annual Awards (see next piece of news) highlight outstanding contributions to the development of sustainable transport infrastructures and their management.

Registration for the conference is open until 22 November 2021.

2021 STA Annual Awards: Recognising Mr. Borja Carabante and Magment GmbH

These years’ awardees of the Person of the Year and the Best Innovation Project/Solution Awards have been selected.

 

This year’s Person of the Year Award is awarded to Mr. Borja Carabante, Delegate for Environment and Mobility of Madrid City Council for his outstanding and continous contribution to the city’s infamously low congestion levels.

 
 

The Best Innovation Project/Solution is awarded to Mr. Mauricio Esguerra of Magment for their magnetic concrete wireless charging solution, which holds the potential to revolutionise transport infrastructures of the future.

 

STA broached digitization at Smart Business
Festival CZ 2021

The DIH information and networking event included a dedicated bloc on digital transport infrastructures.

 

All major European Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) were present at the event and had the opportunity to find new synergies between each other. STA took the stage to present key findings of a study conducted in 2018 (available here), highlighting the importance of digitization of transport infrastructures..

 

STA participates in Smart City Expo 2021 (Barcelona, 16-18 November 2021)

The Smart Transportation Alliance takes part as official collaborating organization of the Expo.

The expo traditionally is one of the key events to connect the Smart Cities industry by providing a global platform for experts and changemakers to share experiences, create connections. The event is a hybrid event this year, taking place partly in person and partly online.

STA Certified Course on Sustainable Road Pavements kicks off next week

Last chance to register for this Course on 08-12 November 2021!

The Course is held by renowned civil engineering and business experts César Bartolomé, Director of Innovation at the Spanish Institute of Cement and its Applications (IECA) and Davide Lo Presti, Assistant Professor at University of Palermo & Visiting Academic at University of Nottingham.

It takes place 100% online and can be accessed afterwards in a new STA Academy Platform. Registration fee is 450€/per participant, with reduced fares available for groups >3 and university students.

Participants do not only learn how to render upcoming and future projects more sustainable but also how to evaluate existing road pavements and render them more sustainable without replacing materials completely.

STA Certified Transport Infrastructure Financing Course was a success

The Course attracted professionals and students alike and covered all things funding & financing

The Course was held online on 20-24 September 2021 by renowned academics and professionals of Aleatica (Mr. Antonio Lafont), University of Antwerp (Prof. Dr. Thierry Vanelslander) and Polytechnic University of Madrid (Prof. Dr. José Manuel Vassallo). Access to the recordings and presentations of this Course can be access against a fee of 100€.
