STA WORK PLAN 2023 FOCUSED ON DECARBONISATION AND TAXONOMY OF SMART TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURES

The Smart Transportation Alliance (STA) held its first General Meeting of 2023 on 24 February 2023. The gathering was kicked off by reviewing the achievements and biggest milestones of the past year, including:

  1. Continous execution of one ongoing research project (SCALE-UP);

  2. Upcoming soon-to-be announced research project on smart compliance of road logistics;

  3. Activity reports per TC, and especially of TC 2 (Safety and Security) which has been exceptionally active during 2022;

  4. STA Annual Conference 2022 summary and outlook;

  5. Revamped training courses;

  6. Attended conferences of the past year.

For the upcoming year, and aside the ongoing workings on roadside safety, it was decided that the 2023 STA Annual Conference will focus on the decarbonisation and taxonomy of smart transport infrastructures.

The members have built a joint pipeline of at least 5 technical publications and discussion papers on a wide set of topics such as:

  1. Transport research priorities for EU-funded programmes;

  2. Taxonomy of environmentally sustainable road transport infrastructures;

  3. Digitisation of road management operations;

  4. Adaptation of road instrastructures to new forms of mobility;

  5. Infrastructural needs for enhanced accessibility.

Finally, the STA Members agreed to continue to work closely on the strategic and joint preparation and execution of commercial, academic and EU-funded projects.

STA is looking forward to another year filled with partnerships, experiences and new activities!
