STA’S TECHNICAL SUB-COMMITTEE ON ROAD RESTRAINT SYSTEMS MEETS IN BRUSSELS
STA’s Technical Sub-Committee on Road Restraint Systems (TC2), featuring some of the most renowned road safety barrier experts in Europe, met in Brussels on 22 June 2017. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss about the future of Road Restraint Systems, and in addition establish the research activities for the second part of the year.
The meeting was also the opportunity to present the latest and final HIPEBA findings on High Performance Steel (HPS) used for road safety barriers. The HIPEBA project came to its conclusion on 30 June 2017 and results have been exceptionally positive with an increase of safety barriers absorption capabilities, despite a reduction in both weight and manufacturing prices.
Discussions brought forward positive feedback from the work carried during the past year and the Members of the Sub-Committee reiterated their full support to bring forward major innovations to the road safety sector.
