2024 STA ANNUAL CONFERENCE & INNOVATION AWARDS: PROCEEDINGS AVAILABLE

On 7 November 2024, the 9th edition of the STA Annual Conference & Innovation Awards, entitled “Advancing the Digitisation of Transport Infrastructures”, took place at the School of Civil Engineering of the Technical University of Madrid (UPM) in Madrid, Spain.

The conference focused on integrating advanced digital technologies and data-driven solutions to optimise the performance, sustainability, and resilience of transport infrastructures.

More than 30 participants joined the conference & had the opportunity to experience two unique site visits, aimed at enhancing their understanding of the evolving landscape of transportation infrastructures. They also explored the latest digital developments in the field.

A technical visit to the Operations Centre of the Madrid West Light Rail Network showcased the importance of real-time data. It demonstrated how advanced monitoring tools can optimise light rail systems. Afterwards the participants had the unique chance to visit and tour the Torres Quevedo Museum, within UPM premises. They admired the collection of historical engineering inventions and devices designed by engineer Leonardo Torres Quevedo, including early automation and robotics, showcasing the visionary work of the renowned Spanish engineer.
