STA Releases a New Discussion Paper on Digitisation of Transport Infrastructures

The Discussion Paper presents the state-of-the-art of digitisation efforts globally.

The STA Discussion Paper under the title “Taking Transport Infrastructures into the Future: The Digitisation of Road Networks” is the aftermath of an extensive research from February to August 2024 by STA Members. It reviews global efforts in digitisation and seeks to highlight that Europe is leading with extensive projects aiming at enhancing transport infrastructure today. Moreover, it provides constructive suggestions and recommendations upon a collaborative, multi-technology approach to address the current obstacles faced today towards the digitisation of transport infrastructures.

Digitisation of Logistics Flows: Implications for European Transport Infrastructures

Learn how KEYSTONE, an EU-funded project, is taking large steps towards the digitisation of operations and services.

 

STA plays a central role as the theCommunication and Dissemination Leader of the KEYSTONE project, focusing on creating a digital ecosystem that will simplify compliance check procedures for both operators and enforcement authorities.

The project concluded its first year in July 2024, successfully engaging over 200 industry stakeholders. The comprehensive consultation with these stakeholders has highlighted key priorities for the digitisation of logistics services.

New method stores CO2 in cement, enhances strength, durability

The technique sequestered up to 45% of CO2, effectively trapping nearly half of the CO2 introduced during concrete manufacture.

An engineering team led by Northwestern University has found a novel method for storing carbon dioxide (CO2) in concrete, a common building material.

This is done by utilizing a carbonated water-based solution throughout the manufacturing process instead of a still one.

 

IRU frames key priorities for new European Parliament to drive European Union forward

The International Road Transport Union (IRU) has published a manifesto with eight key actions for EU road transport sector.

The Interational Road Transport Union (IRU) has recently published a Manifesto outlining eight priority actions, in alignment with its vision of connecting societies with safe, efficient and green mobility and logistics.

Members of the European Parliament and IRU will work closely to drive a more sustainable, efficient and innovative EU road transport sector.
