2022 STA Annual Conference & Innovation Awards Proceedings Available

This 7th edition of the event united key figures of the European transport infrastructure network.

This years’ conference ran under the headline “Adapting transportation infrastructures to the new mobility: A realistic look into needs & requirements".

Several mechanisms for adapted infrastructures were introduced by 7 expert speakers in two roundtables (one focusing on user needs, the other on technical and operational solutions). The roundtables were framed by an introductory keynote by Mr. Rafal Stanecki (Policy Officer at GD MOVE, European Commission) and the speeches of Dr. Carlos Azparren (formerly Team Leader at the Technical Directorate of the Directorate General for Roads, Spanish Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (MITMA)), who was recognised by STA’s Person of the Year Award and Mr. Ricardo Lobo (CEO at Magment Magnetic Concrete for Wireless Charging), who collected the Best Innovation Project Award 2022 for Brebemi SpA’s Arena del Futuro.

STA on infrastructure requirements for the new mobility

Digital magazine Certified Intertraffic provides look-ahead for the new forms of mobility.

Both STA’s President Mr. José Papí and Prof. Dr. José Manuel Menéndez from the Polytechnic University of Madrid are featured and were interviewed for the article in September 2022.

While Mr. Papí highlighted the importance of intact brick infrastructure with a view on the integration of Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs), Prof. Menéndez focused more on topics such as IoT and sensing capabilities, as well as the overarching V2X connectivity.

The last year has been busy as ever of regular activities of our organisation such as the successful hosting of our 7th STA Annual Conference & Innovation Awards, numerous meetings of our technical committees and the attendance of conferences and events. Beyond these usual activities, STA continued to work on the SCALE-UP Project, where the association acts as WP leader on communication & dissemination.

University of Birmingham Develops Sustainable Road Pavement Surface
