22 Nov The longest suspension bridge in Africa – China’s $785 million investment into the construction of Maputo-Catembe Bridge
Africa’s longest suspension bridge has been officially opened to the public after four years of construction work undertaken by China Road and Bridge Corporation.
The project has been ongoing since 1989, from the plans to create better transportation network in Mozambique area, and has now been successfully brought to end, thanks to a significant investment and funding from China.
The Bridge will provide a drastically shorter travel time between Maputo (Mozambique) and KwaZulu-Natal (South-Africa) from 6 hours to 90 minutes. This will consequently encourage and improve trade and tourism between the two countries. Read more.
